Femern Belt Development Foundation is a driving force for growth and development in Region Zealand and on South Funen in relation to the construction phase of the Fehmarn project. The foundation is therefore the focal point of the Danish-German cooperation on the Fehmarn connection. The foundation is managed by a board composed of representatives from Region Zealand, the region's municipalities, the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), the FH-Danish Trade Union Confederation (LO), and the business community in the region.

The Fehmarnbelt link will be an 18 km long tunnel between Denmark and Germany under the Fehmarnbelt, which is under construction as of 2024. On the Danish side, the link will start near Rødbyhavn on Lolland, while on the German side it will start near Puttgarden on the German island of Femern.

Based on their existing collaboration with Provi Reklamebureau, Femern Belt Development approached us with a request for a facelift for their news portal femern.info, as well as a general future-proofing, as the website we created with them around 2018 had been live for many years. Before 2018, when Provi started working with FBD, it was common practice for them to replace their website on femern.info approximately every 2 years. We are therefore proud that they have chosen to continue using the platform we have created.

The desire for a facelift to the existing site led to a thorough process where we reconsidered the presentation of information in their news portal and reviewed various pitfalls in terms of how the site behaves on different devices.

Scope of the Assignment

Provi Reklamebureau had a new web design for the existing website presented and approved through a close and detailed process. We were given the honor of updating their visual identity to anno 2024, so the site will look great for years to come.

The facelift also included a number of sub-tasks, where we reviewed the technology that automatically retrieves new information from various online portals and sorts whether it can be displayed in Danish, English or German.

As part of the relaunch, we have also had ample opportunity to consider and adjust the content creation flow to make it easier and faster for Femern Belt Development to upload news, events and adjust content on pages.
